Our first auction of 2022, The Minoprio Collection: British Design in the Arts &amp; Crafts Tradition, was presented on 11 January. A private collection of British furniture featuring work by some of the finest cabinetmakers of the last hundred years. John Minoprio grew up surrounded by superbly made furniture designed initially by his father, Anthony Minoprio and made by Peter Waals, and later designed and made by Edward Barnsley. Inspired to collect and commission furniture himself he enjoyed a long, friendly and productive relationship with Edward Barnsley and the craftsmen in his workshop at Froxfield in Hampshire. After Barnsley's death, Minoprio continued to commission new work from Jon Barnsley and James Ryan at the Edward Barnsley Workshop and collected earlier pieces by Barnsley, Hugh Birkett, Stanley Davies, Oliver Morel and Peter Waals, all made with consummate skill in the Arts &amp; Crafts tradition.
