Note:
French jeweller Pierre Sterlé (1905-1978) was known as the 'couturier of jewellery'. He reached his pinnacle in the 1940s and 50s, designing jewellery for an exclusive set of women, including Queen Narriman, wife of King Farouk of Egypt. His work was often inspired by nature, as seen in the present lot. Sterlé won the De Beers Diamond Award three consecutive years, in 1953, 1954 and 1955.
