Notes:
The collection, now dispersed, of Balfour Townley Balfour was a fine collection of relics, portraits and miniatures formed at a very early period in the subjects interest. Buying from the early Victorian era the collection was formed at a time when good quality and finely provenanced items were becoming available and the culture and myth around objects was yet to form.
