Notes:
Duncan McGrouther, brother of Alexander McGrouther Snr, was born on 12th April 1714. He appears to have not played an active role in the ’45 but served as heir general for his elder brother John by 1748. As well as looking after family affairs in these difficult and turbulent times, he was also a surgeon based in Crieff. He ended up being the beneficiary of various family bonds and annuities gifted through James, Lord Drummond. These bonds show the close relationship the family had to such staunch Jacobite supporters and again perhaps contradict the idea that Alexander Snr and Jnr were forced into the Perth regiment by the Duke.
