Description
清 紫檀陰刻填彩美人洗浴圖大筆筒
of cylindrical form with lipped mouth rim and base, the exterior finely incised with a beautiful lady taking a bath in a candle-lit chamber, with a long table and flower pots decorating the interior, a male figure sneakily peeping from the open window, the incised lines highlighted with various colours

Note: It is very rare to find zitan vessels applied with incised decoration and further filled in with colours. A zitan rectangular covered box applied with similar technique, with incised and coloured Imperial poems on the exterior, is in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei, Gu Si 故絲 225
