Provenance:
Arthur Halcrow Verstage Collection (1875 - 1969). Mr. Verstage was a noted architect and desginer, best known as the architect for Central Saint Martin's School of Arts building on 12 Southampton Row. A promient follower of the Arts and Crafts Movement, Verstage's large and varied collection was a reflection of his broad interests. His collection of prehistoric lithics was formed between 1902 and the early 1950's, acquired both through field collecting and local dealers. His pencil drawn maps of the sites from which he collected (included in this lot) demonstate a keen interest in ancient landscapes.
